This league will not be easy, there are many decent sides who will be there or there abouts at the end of the season. Hednesford, Leigh, FC United, Boston, BPA, Guisley, Eastwood etc, are all capable of taking the title, do not count your chickens?

Win some loose some. Good team Hednesford, big sods, long ball merchants and it worked too. No complaints on the day.

Just got home after a disapointing performance by the boys today, but lets not be too despondent,Hendesford supporters were ecstatic with that result, and admitted it could quite easily have gone either way,we didnt take our chances, and defensively we made mistakes which unfortuneatly were punished,.
On the other forum somebody his blaming the keeper, but admittidly he was partially to blame for the 3rd goal,I think Worsnop his as good a keeper as you could get at this level,we also had John Lamb who in my opinion looked like{in pre season friendlies}as he could pose a serious challenge for the jersey, but was released,Warner was at fault with the 1st goal, and should have cleared the original cross for the 2nd goal before it was put back in,the 3rd was a cock up,both centre backs letting the ball bounce, and with the keeper coming out as well all three of them got beat to the ball by the striker.

AND WHY DID CAMMY NOT NAME AN UNCHANGED SIDE{hes been sub 1st 2 games, not today?},WE NEEDED TO SEE WHAT HE CAN DO ON THE PITCH,HE CERTAINLY SHOUTS LOUD ENOUGH FROM THE SIDELINES,especially at the keeper.

Hednesford were a strong and quick side who simply out muscled us yesterday. As you say John the goals came from defensive errors. I don't think we can blame anyone in particular as there were a few at fault. This is something that needs sorting out quickly. It's always disappointing to lose but when you concede goals by silly errors it's very frustrating. I know Cammy said he wouldn't change a winning team. Well he didn't apart from not naming himself on the bench but I don't always think you can go with same same team and tactics. I would like to see us play with a little more caution away from home. The vital thing is to win the home games and make sure you do not lose away. A draw yeaterday would have been a good result. A lot of the play was down the right with Bettney putting in serveral crosses which were cleared too easily at times by their defence. Maybe we should have kept the ball on the ground a bit more. I would have been tempted to bring Scales on in the second half to help tighten up the midfield.

With Patterson and Murphy back on Monday I would hope to see a few changes. How about starting with 3 strikers? I would also like to see Bett starting. The game livens up when he comes on. Although he's a striker he does a great job on the left wing. I think he's a better option on the wing than Graves who I reckon is best at full back.

As for Cammy I can't see him bringing himself on unless we have an injury crisis.

Let's hope for a better performance and result against Worksop.

Agree with all that John.

People are very quick to pick out a scapegoat when we lose. Yes you cannot deny that Jon made an error which cost us a goal but how many games has he kept us in before now with his saves? To blame Jon for yesterdays defeat is almost laughable! How about blaming the players who's missed chances cost us dearly? and lets be honest there was quite a few. I read on the other forum that we need a new goalkepper! Now that was laughable! Do these people go to the games? Name me a better goalkepper at this level than Jon? Because i cannot think of one. Get off his back.

Yesterday could have gone either way, unfortunatley for us it went against us as no doubt it will do again during the next nine months. We are a good side who IMO will be challanging for promotion come April. How quickly some people forget about the two fine peformances before yesterday. Tomorrows game can't come quick enough and i'm sure Cammy and the lads are glad that we have another game so quickly after yesterday to put things right which i have no doubt that they will. Lets hope the if'ers and are'ers arnt put off after yesterdays result and maybe a bit of rain and turn out to give the lads the support they deserve. A win tomorrow and hopefully yesterday will be quickly forgotten

Mr John- what is this other forum then?

Jon Worsnop has always been a good shot stopper; when a ball is coming at him, and as demonstrated during the second half last Tuesday night. For ten minutes we were given the run around by Matlock, and we could have conceded one or two goals, had Jon not pulled off several good saves. That said we should have scored another three goals, had we squared balls across the area, instead of going for personal glory.

Unfortunately Jon is suspect in the face of big players, and with high balls going across him, as shown on two occasions yesterday. A Hednesford forum is lavishing much praise on their goalkeeper, Stuart Brock, for three excellent saves and good handling. Hednesford are a big strong lumbering team, and hopefully we can learn from yesterday’s loss, when up against similar sides-like Eastwood. Such teams tend to struggle against sides that play it quick and fast on the ground.

Did anyone notice the Hednesford assistant manager is Matty Elliott, the ex Leicester City and Scotland defender, no doubt setting out on his coaching and managerial career. He will bring much knowledge and experience to their club.

We possess a very potent forward line, but have seen how suspect we are in defence, when Rhyl, Matlock and Hednesford got at us. If we gift goals as we did yesterday, even with a good forward line and at this level, any team will find it hard to come back. But for the mistakes and poor defence yesterday, we posed them problems on the deck, and could have come away with something.

Good programme yesterday-even at £2.00 mmm

I don’t quite know what to expect from Worksop tomorrow; hammered at Marine (6-2) and at home to Nantwich yesterday (4-0), yet had a good draw midweek against my favourites Eastwood- who also surprisingly lost at Kendal on Saturday. Non league is always unpredictable-unlike the Premier league.

If you ever get the opportunity, check out Pete Summerfield, goalkeeper for AFC Fylde of the North West Counties Premier Division. Around 6’6” athletic and totally imposing. They’re out there if you look. Even at two levels below us.

Don't take this the wrong way and no disrespect to Peter Summerfield but he is playing in the North West Counties league for a reason. If he is a good as you say surely it will only be a matter of time before he is snapped up.

I also failed to mention that the third goal yesterday wasn't solely Jon's fault as Ruffer was also to blame in the mix up. You learn from your errors as i'm sure both Jon and Carl will. For those who were at Matlock on Tuesday night, they would have witnessed Jon pull off some outstanding saves.

Their keeper also pulled of some very good saves himself in the first half yesterday and had he not it could have been a totally different outcome. Lets not dwell, onwards and upwards

Don't take this the wrong way and no disrespect, but YOU asked if there was a better keeper out there- and I suggested just one who commands his area. I do not propose we look at taking this or any other keeper; only suggest there shall always be better keepers out there. It is only two seasons since Rory Patterson was plying his trade in the NWC league, and for a club to search players at their own level and above only, will lose out.

If you read my post, I also referred to Jon’s saves at Matlock, which kept us at 3-0. Though we should have been 5 or 6 up at the time.

Yesterday their keeper and defence made no mistakes which led to goals-but we made two. You simply cannot get away with it at this level, and will be punished. It is not a case of dwelling on the past, more as YOU write, we need to LEARN how to deal with big physical teams. Whilst at another level at the time, remember Gainsborough last year. An example of a team too big and powerful for us.

The first month in any new division after promotion is always going to be a learning curve. We are learning and will learn from our errors i have no doubt. Your bang on the money with the fact that this division is full of physical teams. If we are to achieve our goal of promotion then we are going to have to mix it with them and quickly. Boston, who i'm sure will try to play their way out of this division had a stark warning yesterday of how physical it can be and will be.

I thought the comments about Jon on the other forum were a little harsh and i defended him. I suppose if we all had the same opinions then these forums would be a little dull! Going back to yesterday, if anything the defence in front of him looked a little cumbersome, my opinion of coarse.
theprisoner
AFC Fylde have been taken over by a sugar daddy who failed to take control of Blackpool. He's spent a lot of money including defender Scott McNiven who played for Farsley in the Conference last season. So their keeper is probably very good but out of avenue's budget.
Robert Terwilliger
Crikey, No 6, keep that to yourself.

If the cyber warriors from FCUM find out about Fylde and their aims to become a Football League club, they'll be all over them like a cheap suit.
Jez
The difference yesterday was their back 5 and keeper were better than our back four and keeper on the day.
We were unable to defend from the front as unlike the matlock and prescot games where ruddy won everything in the air and hall was onto anything on the deck, we were losing the first ball to their big agressive centre halfs and the ball was coming back quicker.

we didn't change tact and play through midfield quick enough in the game or get the ball wide and quit the long ball, they were playing wingbacks and we could have gone 2 on 1 on them.

We were poor tactically yesterday but when you win your first two games as easily as we have you don't learn much.

Hopefully lessons will be learned, there's no doubt we have better players than Hednesford, but they were better organised and playing in front of a keeper who was taking crosses for fun.

Would have taken 6 out of 9 points though, so good start to season.

I don't think we need to get too upset with yesterday's result. Away games at Matlock and Hednesford were always going to be tricky fixtures and i'm reasonably happy we have taken 3 points from those games. Eastwood next week will be equally difficult. The defence was stretched at times at Matlock, and with steadier finishing they would have scored. Hednesford obviously made us pay for defensive lapses. I was not altogether surprised with yesterday's result.

It was a bad day for a number of fancied sides yesterday and i would imagine followers of Boston, Buxton, Leigh, and Eastwood would be more disappointed than ourselves.

Anyway we have a quick opportunity to get back on track. Let's hope we can put Worksop to the sword tomorrow. I fully expect changes to our starting line up. Rory Patterson should get his first league outing for the Avenue. Hopefully he's raring to go, and notches a goal or two.
