I went down there last night and really enjoyed the match. It was a really good performance and well worth the effort of the midweek trip. Not a bad following of Avenuites either i thought. Well done all concerned. Up the Avenue!

After that performance last night people are really going to sit up and take notice. Matlock weren't a bad side but we steamrollered them. Four great goals scored but also some heroic defending. Worsnop made a number of smart saves in the second half.
There were representatives of Guiseley, and Eastwood present last night. No doubt other clubs were also watching. If they didn't know what they're up against before, they do now.
Proud to be an Avenue fan.

Good photos again John. What a fantastic result. I could not go last night unfortunately but i note we played in green and white. Without wanting to bring up the green/white v red/amber/black argument again have you noticed how often when we play in green we win and how often when we play in red/amber/black we lose. It would be interesting to know the stats if anybody has them. It could be a bit like Man U's grey shirt syndrome of a few years back.

very early days yet but the encouraging thing for me was that matlock didn't seem a bad side but we attacked and defended well despite a standardly early-season "bit-disjointed" performance. hall looks a class apart and there seemed to be few weak areas of the team. the 7 for them was absolutely superb..........BOB

As an Avenue exile in Loughborough, I can't get to many games but the performance at Matlock was fantastic. It's the first time I've seen Avenue get 4 goals in a game since Kevin Hector got a hat-trick at Chester (including his 100th goal for the club) in a 4-2 win - 1966 I think?
At Matlock, we were great going forward but I was also very impressed with the determination not to concede a goal. Well done to all concerned.
It was great to meet Jez and his dad, and to catch up with Avenue news.
Thanks to all who keep this website going - fantastic for us exiles.

red/amber/black seemed to serve us well enough at man city 8-2 away win in the cup in 1948 i seem to remember and THEY ARE OUR ORIGINAL COLOURS and the away kit is unique as far as im aware .
