Bradford (Park Avenue) Res 1-1 Ossett Albion Res
Mr Dozy
Last night Bradford (Park Avenue) Reserves drew 1-1 against unbeaten Ossett Albion Reserves in the Lancashire League.

After a goaless first half, Dave Phelps throw in was returned to him by Duane Bywood who passed the ball back to Phelps whose cross ended up at the feet of 18 year old James Anderson - who from 18 yards out half volleyed his shot into the net.. Ossett equalised when they were awarded a free kick at the edge of our penalty area, the wall jumped up but the ball hardley left the ground, took a deflection and wrong footed our 'keeper James Hoyroyd.

AVENUE: James Holroyd gk, Andrew Doogan, Chris Fisher, Andy Salm, Liam Smith, Jamie Bairstow, Curtis Roberts, Kory Nix, James Anderson, Duane Bywood, Luke Gibson. Subs: Dave Phelps, Ben Thornton, Steve Helaimia, Jamie Abbott gk (not used)

TEAM MANAGERS THOUGHTS.... .......
They had 2/3 first teamers, we had none and once again I played ten U19's but I thought we worked hard, kept our shape and played well. The only semi-criticism I gave the players at half-time was a. our pass/decision making when we reached their final third was poor b. we tended to switch off/give a poor pass at critical times of the game c. our shooting was rubbish.
All in all I thought the draw was a fair result.
James Holroyd once again looked a commanding figure in goal and didn't make one mistake and trialist Kory Nix did ok on his debut.
For the Ossett match I would like to thank Sharon Burnett and her daughter Lauren for staffing the tea bar and making the after match food for all the players and officials, Martin Aykroyd for staffing the gate, Neil Cairns for warming up the 'keeper, Colin from Bradford Council for getting Horsfall ready (Ray Walker was away), Premo for washing the kit and finally to my Assistant Barry Thomas for his ongoing help and support.
I will finish with some funny stories:
1. The new Ossett Manager is Paul Lines who was the Guiseley Res/U19 Assistant last season - last year Baz and myself never got a cup of tea at Nethermoor, so I asked Sharon to make a special brew for Paul that we promptly delivered on the pitch to him - Paul, you owe us when we come to Dimple Wells later this season!!!!!
2. The referee last night was Neil Kellett who took charge of last seasons Bfd & Dist Cup Final. Upon his arrival we made him most welcome and I said "Ryan Farrell sends his regards", Neil replied "who?", I said "the player you sent off last season in our Cup Final and you were the only one in the ground who thought he should have been". I added "Ryan is now playing football in the USA so he has served his suspension out there!!!!!!! ". For the record, Ryan jumped out of the way of a two footed challenge from a Fields player and accidently stood on him. Big smiles!
3. Oh, and the huge hole that suddenly appeared last week in front of the dug out has now been filled in - thanks to Bradford Council.

Thank you for following the fortunes of these young BPA players.

Best wishes

Bradford (Park Avenue ) Res 2 -0 Harrogate Town Res.

In the Lancashire League match tonight played at Horsfall, Bradford (Park Avenue) Reserves gave a fine display to beat Harrogate Town Reserves 2-0.
On target for Avenue were Curtis Roberts with a 25 yard bullett of a shot that flew
into the bottom corner. And Jamie Bairstows superb 35 yard pass found Damian Mitchell at the far post to head home.

With ten U19's in the squad, I was very happy with the attitude and commitment of the players - well done to everyone!!!!

TEAM MANAGERS THOUGHTS..............
Upon arrival at the Horsfall Stadium we made Dave & Liz Heard the Harrogate Manager and Secretary most welcome. Dave said “we’ve lost three players on the way”. I said “NO” because memories came flooding back of our encounter last season when Harrogate kicked off with only 9 men and sat everyone at the edge of their penalty area. I tried three different formations to try and break them down but none of them worked and the match ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

It should be noted that as the Reserve and U19 Secretary I always send theopponent’s a map of how to get to Horsfall.

I thought the players responded well to my demand to get all three points and to stick to a game plan – they did all that was asked so well done to the
players!!!!!!!

For the Harrogate match I would like to thank Sharon Burnett and her daughter Lauren for staffing the tea bar and making the after match food for all the players and officials, Martin Aykroyd for manning the gate, Neil Cairns for warming up the 'keepers, Ray Walker from Bradford Council for getting Horsfall ready, Premo for washing the kit and finally to my Assistant Barry Thomas for his ongoing help and support.

Bradford (Park Avenue) Reserves moved up into fourth place of the Lancashire League as the result of their fine 3-1 win last night against Ossett Town Reserves.

On target for Avenue were the 18 year olds Craig Thompson who netted a first half header and a second half penalty plus substitute James Anderson who scored with a 25 yard looping shot that deceived the Ossett 'keeper - AND - the Avenue bench who were applauding James initial shot!!!!!

AVENUE: James Holroyd gk, Damian Mitchell, Andrew Doogan, Andy Salm ©, Liam Smith, Duane Bywood, Curtis Roberts, Jamie Bairstow, Mike Moseley, Craig Thompson, Luke Gibson. Subs: Ben Thornton, Dave Pemberton, Matthew Mazlak (not used), James Anderson, Jamie Abbott gk (not used)

OSSETT: Ben Imeson gk, Adam Gumdill, Ross Hardaker, Oliver Dell, John Sainthouse, Chris Ndukba, Curtis Lewis, Jarred Peltier, Darren Thornton, Matthew Pedder, Ben Hardy. Subs: Leon Reid, Ben Nelle, Jimmy Eyles, James Wilson, Raymond Andre

TEAM MANAGERS THOUGHTS................
With Chris Fisher out with a cracked rib, we had to play Andrew Doogan at left back and mid-field man Damian Mitchell at right back. One minute gone we lost Doogie with a suspected broken ankle and he was taken straight to hospital. Following x-rays it is not broken but he will be out of action for a while. We dominated the opening period but the same old usual story - WE COULDN'T SCORE - it true fashion Ossett hit us on the break to open the scoring. Following a scramble in the goalmouth, Craig Thompson netted with a header.
HT
There were a few home truths said to the players in the changing rooms at the break - no shouting or tea cups thrown - just constructive criticism. After a while the players seemed to accept Baz and my comments. They came out the second half and took the game to Ossett and were rewarded when Craig turned inside the penalty box, was upended but picked himself up to score. James Anderson completed the scoring. All credit to the players for taking the Management criticism on the chin and changing their ways in the second half.
For the record:
- Luke Gibson should have had a hat-trick and how did Curtis Roberts miss his chance from three yards out?
- 1st teamer Mike Moseley got a full hour game time - ask him about what happened when he went on a run down the wing in front of the main stand!?!?!?
- it was good to see Dave Pemberton return to the Club after going awol last season. Dave played the last half hour and looked sharp

For the Ossett match I would like to thank Dave Cameron first team boss for allowing Mike Moseley to play for the Reserves, Sharon Burnett and her daughter Lauren for staffing the tea bar and making the after match food for all the players and officials, Martin Aykroyd for manning the gate, Neil Cairns for warming up the 'keepers, Scott for acting as ball boy, Ray Walker from Bradford Council for getting Horsfall ready, Premo for washing the kit and finally to my Assistant Barry Thomas for his ongoing help and support.

Thank you for following the fortunes of these young players (and the 'old' Mike Moseley!!!).
