Full Version: Guess the gate v Prescot Cables
CanterburyTales
As we all know its the first game of the new season on Saturday with Prescot Cables visiting Horsfall. The question is though just how many will click through the turnstiles? Who will guess the closest? I'll get the ball rolling with

301,we have work to do to drum up support, more of the same like last season, hopefully without the weather intervening as it did last season

395 unless we get a double page spread in the T&A this week. Oh look a flying Pig!

You're obviously still on a high after scraping through at Scun.

Reckon it'll be nearer 350 , watching a drab game in the pouring rain, finishing with a 1-1 draw (thanks to an own goal).

I would like to see over 500 but suspect it may be nearer 400. We have to work hard once again this season to get people through those turnstiles. Number of factors to take into consideration - holidays / weather / City (away at Macclesfield).

Did you see Farsleys gate on Tuesday - 241. What a poor crowd for their first home game of the season. It was Fleetwood's first game having won the Unibond Premier League championship last season. They are not badly supported and would have taken a few. I consider Farsley to be a good side but their level of support is appalling. Can they really progress any further up the non league pyramid? Not with gates like that.

373 (I was going to say 374 until Peter Lorimer said he's not going huh.gif ). I went to the Farsley game. The rain was torential before kick off and must have kept some people away, especially as the club didn't bother to confirm on the answer machine or the website that the game was still on. There were maybe 50 "Codheads" (FTFC fans). Farsley played very well in the second half but the number of supporters was an embarrassment.

It’s a long way from Fleetwood though. We played Fleetwood in the FA Cup last season and they were infiltrated by a load of Liverpool fans. They hit our goalie twice with bottles thrown from behind the goal and the referee took both teams off the pitch. In retaliation we pelted their goalie with a wide assortment of soft toys none of them hit him.

No one will see Patterson and Rudd up front in the opening game. It's likely to be Rudd and Hall as Patterson is suspended.

The Net was closest as he was only six away. The General was furthest away with his gross over-estimation of 19,999. Looks like he had best scale down his plans for Phoenix Park after all.

A good start both on the pitch and off it,the players put on a good all round performance, with Rudd and Hall outstanding, the attendance of 429 was an increase of 38% on the 1st fixture last season against similar opposition,if we can keep on with the performances and entertainment on the field AVENUE ARRY looks like he will be popular with the kids, there is no reason why we should not be looking at an average gate of 750 upwards.

Bob

Perhaps he blends in so well with the rest of our fans that he wasn't noticed. laugh.gif
There's a few pictures of Arry in my gallery. I thought he was great for what it's worth.
The only other mascot I can remember on our travels was the Lion at Belper a couple of years ago. http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/Johnrhodes01...514692016977954
I reckon 'Arry could 'ave him though.

I liked Arry too - will he be there every week. I can't say I was impressed with the musical fanfare played over the p.a. that accompanied each goal though. Hope thats not repeated.
