Well folks, there we have it! the T&A taking its revenge in the form of a full page article written by Simon (I sleep in a City shirt) Parker.
The article hurts, it is sacastic in tone but puts the boot in at the same time, and the best way to answer it is on the football field.
Now lets get the local press and the public back on side. This will require some top PR by somebody who is skilled in such matters.

Their daily Bulls & City ra-ra sheet goes to 20% of Bradford and Shipley households.
BTW, their circulation in Pudsey is a whopping 392.
I think we are now in the Internet era and the Good Old T & A is quickly becoming a thing of the past. I am sick of the out of touch opinions of this rag not only on sport but on every other issue which they wish to espouse their one sided opinions on. Going back to the original point though they are not interested in Avenue or the Bulls. As they have shown on many occasions they are Manningham through and through.

The T&A reporting of the Avenue over last season was excellent. Avenue are currently in the unibond league which some of you seem to forget. Coverage will improve has we progress, you can't expect a full page like city or bulls playing in the unibond league with support less than 600
Avenue and City were both in the Football League and therefore should be treat equally. City fell from the Premier League to League Two but their coverage is still the same as it was. Avenue are treat to worse coverage than Farsley who are not even a Bradford team and have never been in the Football League. The fact is that City and the Bulls stories are viewed as the least depressing news worthy subjects in this once proud city. Just shows how far the City of Bradford has sunk!

Yes you SHOULD be viewed 'as the likes of Thackley and Liversedge' ! Avenue are a non-league team - outside the Conference divisions (unlike Farsley) and therefore warrant not much more space.
City and the Bulls may have fallen on hard times, but they are the City's main sports clubs operating in national professional leagues.
There are a lot of level headed individuals on this forum who show a healthy respect towards other clubs & who are realistic in their aims & ambitions - you know who you are (and by reading the original post in this thread you will know what I mean). However the 'we are better than everyone else , 'anyone who disagrees is scum' ' the whole world is against us and we have a right to be in the fooball league' morons really do need a reality check.
I really hope BPA go up again this coming season, and I will be at Horsfall to see the side a few times. However, I do know of several people who have been turned off watching BPA by the ridiculous and aggressive postings of these certain individuals, which is only bad for the club - in the same way that the so called pre-season tour has been.
I fully expect those same people to shoot me down in flames - which is fine, but I would say that those people at least take stock of what the more realistic and balanced individuals are saying on the forum.
I agree Anorak, In all fairness Avenues T&A coverage last seaon was, in my view, very good. Certainly better than Eccleshill, Sedge and Thackley.

That's the most accurate summary of avenue that I've ever read on here (and it's my second favourite of the posts that I can remember from this site- moonchester wins for me with his heartfelt and funny response to Spaingate). Only the arrogant and deluded people that you refer to would "shoot you down in flames" for speaking the truth. I think you are right to point out the damage that is being done to the club by putting off decent people from coming.

Maybe they run stuff from us cos we are in a higher league and we give them stuf regularly
we used to be a conference team which is a league u never played in in either versions of BPA
Ackworth - I can't agree with you about the age of the internet. Very few Horsfall regulars post on this forum or the two others. Half of the members on this site seem to support other clubs while others live many miles from Bradford and don't get to many matches. The T&A is the most important source of information for people who actually go to games.

Worried, the article by Simon Parker appeared in his regular Saturday column, it was not a general news item but like all weekly columns, a personnal contribution.
The article took up the majority of the column and was of course about the spanish tour.
I think that what bugged me was the fact that Simon Parker is the Bradford City reporter, and boy! don't we know it.

It has to be said that we get lousy coverage from the T&A. I don't expect the column inches that City get but i think they should recognise that we are , like it or not, Bradfords second club.

Spain joke rebounds on Avenue

I thought I’d push the boat out this week as the weather has perked up and do the column from the company yacht.
The sun’s dazzling in the sky and there’s a gentle breeze coming from the starboard bow as we gently circumnavigate the Bahamas.
Oh yes, and Sharon Stone is feeding me grapes while I type.
Hang on a minute. Oi, Shazza, thought I’d told you before to make sure they were seedless.
You just can’t get the staff these days. Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, waking up and realising that it was all complete guff.
The nearest I’ll get to personal service of any kind will be a coffee from a grudging sports-desk colleague. If I’m lucky.
But it breaks up the monotony of everyday life with these flights of fancy.
Some, it seems, take it even further and head for the land of make believe on their pre-season tour.
Which brings me in a rambling way to the summer shenanigans involving Park Avenue and the “did they, didn’t they” matches in Spain.
Some will say that all publicity is good publicity. In which case, news of their sojourn abroad has earned Avenue superb exposure across the country.
I bet the club haven’t been mentioned on national radio since they crashed out of the league nearly 40 years ago. Now, thanks to a little bit of creative thinking – and writing – their exploits have been plastered all over.
To recap for those living on Venus – or should that be Benus – Avenue trumpeted a two-game tour of Spain last month.
The club website carried reports from both matches against what they described as challenging opponents.
Rory Patterson, a newly-arrived striker, was even meant to have notched a hat-trick. Following on from their promotion, it was all good, positive stuff.
If only it had been true.
Patterson, it emerged, had not even gone on the trip. He only became aware of his “goal- scoring heroics” when a fan from his previous club rang up to congratulate him.
Cue red faces all round for Avenue who reluctantly gave their version of events when pressed by this paper earlier in the week.
Yes, they had played two games abroad but perhaps the standard of the teams they were up against wasn’t what it claimed to be on the label – or on the website. They were more Sunday morning teams, admitted an embarrassed director, perhaps more a Diego and Duck XI than Real Madrid then?
Yes, there had been a Patterson in the squad. But it might not have been Rory ...
Their Spanish adventure has turned out to be as genuine as El Dorado.
But the club’s explanation did omit one small word. ‘Sorry’ would have been nice.
Sorry to the paper and the public for publishing blatantly wrong information. And, more importantly, sorry to the Avenue fans for dragging the club’s name through the mud.
It has been described as a bit of a jape by some. Well it wasn’t particularly funny.
The fact the club took so long to come clean – and only then after some digging by suspicious supporters on internet forums – reflects pretty poorly all round.
The paranoid Petes among Avenue’s fanbase claim this is all a witchhunt by “outsiders” determined to bring their club down. It’s nothing of the sort.
This has been a pretty shabby episode whichever club had been involved.
Owner Bob Blackburn has big ambitions for Avenue with talk of back-to-back promotions and a move to a new purpose-built ground at Thornbury. He is a man of action and intends to drag the club forward after too long in the football backwater.
Accrington Stanley and Aldershot have come back from the dead to return to the Football League. Avenue would give their right arm to do the same.
This week’s events have cast the club as a laughing stock – and not just locally.
Some will insist the media are just making a mountain out of a molehill and it will all be forgotten when the season is underway. But there will be many who are not so forgiving.
How can people trust anything Avenue say next when their own official mouthpiece, the club’s website, is reporting fiction as fact.
Nearly a week on from this story going public and the match reports from Spain are still on there.

Mr Ackworth Avenue. I suggest you read all of the posts in this thread and think about what has been said recently. When you've done that it might be a good idea to sit down and consider whether BPA really needs fans like yourself.

I travel a 50 mile round trip to watch every home match and attend most away matches so don't tell me Avenue don't need fans like me. I suggest if some people who are more local made the same effort then the club would be better off. All i am saying is the club is shown no respect by the T & A ( BCFC Fan Club). As for not needing fans like me i will be at Rhyl on Saturday so why do you question my value as a supporter?

No!, you are right i am not, but you are missing the very thing that ties things together and that is trust, your club published to the T&A about the tour and as such they reported it, i.e they trusted them, they were let down so they/you cannot complain when there are ramifications , that is my only point .

Good posts Robert and Johnxl. The problem i think has been that the subject has been left to fester rather than a straight forward hands up apology to settle it once and for all, further misinformation fed to the media doesn't help either!
Only 11 days to the start of the season proper now and real tests for the newly assembled squad by teams at our own level. With the squad we now have and maybe a couple of additions as we move into the season, we should walk this league. We just need to remember that some of the teams we will come up against have been established for a while and are fully settled going into the new campaign.

A very strange retort to someone who has simply shown the Simon Parker article for the benefit of the earlier writer who couldn't find it in the paper.
If you and Bob are feeling the bullets coming from every direction, can't you understand why ? It would be more sensible to show a little humility, rather than go on the attack , which you both seem to favour, rather than make a sensible comment - or as others have suggested, refrain from posting on a fans forum unless you have a club announcement to make.

As a follower of all football in the Bradford district, I think the T&A gives good, balanced coverage of local football. All other pyramid clubs are featured each week as well as local leagues/cups.
Time to move on. Given a good league and / or cup run you will see that coverage of BPA will improve. Think about how good coverage was when the club reached the FA Cup 1st round and played Bristol City.
Also, mr Ackworth boy - not sure you can claim that BPA are the same club as the one that was in the football league. The team that graced the football league were registered with the FA as Bradford FC - the (Park Avenue) bit in brackets only being used in the press to differentiate them from City. The NEW club is registered as 'Bradford Park Avenue'.
Anyway -on another point, didn't BPA have a 'Pemberton'. in the side in the not too distant past ? Small lad. Seems to have turned up at Silsden and looked good in a pre-season game at Harrogate Railway (didn't prevent Silsden getting walloped however - in a similar way that BPA won easily at Cougar park last season ).

Ahead of the game, Bradford PA club secretary Steve Burnett is keen to emphasise how important history is to both of the clubs.
"There are still very strong links between the clubs, past and present, and lots of memorabilia in the club house,” he said.
“It is quite an occasion, and so should attract a good crowd."
Bradford are no strangers to successful cup runs, having also reached the Fourth Qualifying Round of The FA Cup this season and Burnett sees no reason why this form cannot be carried over into the Trophy.
He added: "We have reached a nice rich vein of goalscoring, despite not starting the season too well, and have scored 33 goals in our last six games."

This takes the biscuit. Spain might keep getting brought up, but this "issue" was put to bed 20 years ago.
Just to reassure this new found group of non-Avenue supporting rabblerousers, the re-formed club has been considered the descendent of the former one not only by the F.A. (there is no greater authority in the game than them, anyway) but also by the ex-players association and all the club's former greats (Shackleton, Downie, Greenwood, Hector, Ham etc etc etc etc etc....... etc).

If you're going to use a club's nomenclature as a guide, Anorak, then: Manchester United cannot pass off the history of Newton Heath, Arsenal cannot include the history of Woolwich Arsenal.

count me in as being part of that list of Avenue fans who actually saw Bradford (Park Avenue) play in the league. So for any doubters of whether i am a TRUE fan or not, think again, i've been around a lot longer than most and have seen the good times and the bad.
The post i put on from the T&A was in resonse to someone who asked how to find it, can't remember who exactly it was, but as i have said before - don't shoot the messenger.
If Kev or Bob cannot answer straight questions then so be it.
I was only asking for an HONEST answer to put an end to all the spain crap.
The trouble it has caused was SELF INFLICTED so i have no sympathy and will certainly be dubious about any announcements from the board in the future.

I have no probs with the loyal, long standing fans - its one or two of the 'others' !
I have just returned from Manningham Mills, which will bring back fond memories to many of you, where Campion defeated Silsden in a pre-season friendly tonight.
As for Nepal. If I encounter any of those Maoists (who are still hijacking trekkers and extorting money from them) then I shall listen carefully to their indoctrines (which can take them a fair few hours to explain to you), before offering them a truly exhilarating account of the history of football in West Yorkshire mill towns. They won't stay around for long, I can assure you.

Sitting on the fence as I do, with "sight" of both parties, I feel a bit like a referee when I say I agree it's time to move on , despite there being some awkward questions still unanswered.
Without doubt, the two men at the top made a monumental cock-up, which has has repercussions / condemnation nationwide, but for the sake of the Club we must hope that the lesson's been learned and we should now let them get back to the business of pushing Avenue forward and upwards.
In many ways, IR has merely echoed the sentiments of a number of mature Avenueites, and shouldn't be vilified for being (as one of you said recently) like a dog with a bone.
So now it's time to "let sleeping dogs lie" (oh dear, that's not quite the right saying to use, but you know what I mean !)
Finally, to the Powers-that-be, I hope you will now leave the fans' forum to behave as it was originally intended (commenting, bickering, agreeing to disagree, etc) without your intervention. In many ways, IR has merely echoed the sentiments of a number of mature Avenueites, and shouldn't be vilified for being (as one of you said recently) like a dog with a bone.
So now it's time to "let sleeping dogs lie" (oh dear, that's not quite the right saying to use, but you know what I mean !)
Finally, to the Powers-that-be, I hope you will now leave the fans' forum to behave as it was originally intended (commenting, bickering, agreeing to disagree, etc) without your intervention. We've already lost one splendid message board, let's try make this one interesting again, not abusive slanging matches.

Think you're getting the wrong end of the stick Martin.
I do not wish to keep anything going on and on as you put it, i merely wanted an answer to a question that has been raised by several fans other than myself.
My original question remained unanswered (sensibly) even though the person/people responsible for the whole episode continued to post on avenueonline with deflective subjects.
I am obviusly not going to get an answer, so we'll wait and see how long it takes for the board to get an answer from the fans when they have their hand out for additional funds. I for one will not be parting with my proverbial "hard earned" to someone who has brought shame and national embarrassment upon a once glorious and proud club.
What anyone else does is entirely their perogative and makes no difference to me.
I will still continue as always to attend games and support the staff on the field regardless.

and to think i had most of farsley fans down as saddo's who liked studying bus timetables ,although you do a mean pint in your clubhouse Seriously really good suggestion Farsley 2 ,Adam BUFC take note, although i am a massive fan of eddy grant, let's put that on the backburner and have viva e'spania before kick off failing that 'This Time We'll Get It Right" change ron's to Bob's and red white and blue to green white and green and it could work.
