Thought 'Golden Gordon' was a great episode.

I bet Micheal Palin could re-hash the recent Spaingate affair in to a very funny spoof.

Fact is stranger than fiction.

Golden Gordon was filmed at Salts FC, whose reserves were Avenue's first ever opponents in the WRCAL Division 3 in 1988.

And I remeber Barry Davies at one World Cup commenting on the variety of team names on England flags, including one from Barnstoneworth, whom he'd never heard of.

Surely Barnstoneworth United were Avenue in disguise.

Barnstoneworth, Barnstoneworth, Barnstoneworth!!

It's a classic.

Barstoneworth United.

Any chance of a friendly?

P.S. partly filmed at Salts Football Ground i believe.

Apparently the Bolton comedian Peter Kay, well known for making comedy characters out real life people, read the T&A article yesterday. He saw the obvious comic potential at avenue and is planning a new TV show called Phoenix Park Nights in which he will play the part of Bob Blackburn. However Peter has said that the show will not include a character called chop chop as he doesn't think that the watching public will be able to stomach him and no actor would be able to reach such levels of repulsion.

I remember it. It was 7-1 by the way. You were going Bust again and cancelled the original friendly on a wednesday night so we went to Doncater Rovers on that night if i remember correctly we lost by an odd goal. Then on the Thursday morning when you somehow survived you asked us if we could play you that night. We then managed to get our players to play again (Just in case you can't count thats 2 games in 24 hours) all the players also had to go to work as well. Then your team turned up fit as fiddles full time pro's training 5 times a week and went about beating us, which to be fair if your team had played twice in 24 hours and the 2nd game was against a team 4 divisions above you would expect to lose. The most annoying thing that day was that despite us doing everything to make sure your guys got a game all your players and officials just pi***d of after the game without even a thanks.
So City fans get back on your own forum and worry about your team not BPA!!!

Calm your angst Mr Secretary .....I come in peace to trade some friendly banter.

7-1? ...8-1? ...ok a little poetic license used by moi if you like.

But, your excuses are rather lame Mr Ottershaw .....next you'll be telling me that you were lacking your star players MacIntyre, Treadmore And Davitt.

Sadly it is we Avenue fans who are recalling the events of a few years ago with rose tinted glasses. We actually lost 4-0 to Doncaster and 7-0 to Manningham not 1-0 and 7-1.
