Small crowd for their first game. I'm surprised at that. Somewhere between 400 and 900.

If that was their first match it wasn't a cracking gate although still not bad for that level. I don't see them making the impact of FCUM and doubt how long they will last if they don't get the success on the pitch.

After signing on, they couldn't get there in time in their stolen cars.

The Liverpool area has never backed none league football im sorry but this will be no different i give it 1 maybe 2 seasons. The support for non leage football just isnt there.

When you look at the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool they can charge pretty much what they want and they will still fill the ground every week. This will not be with the true fans of the club who get priced out but sadly this is the way football is at the top end of the Premier League these days and the clubs do seem to view them as customers rather than fans.

For me if this happened to my club and I did not wish to support them anymore it would be largely irrelevant whether I supported an AFC or say a local non-league team as both are not my club and do not have my clubs history etc.

I admire the sentiment in what these people do but I think it does little to change the views of the boards of these huge money machines. Those supporters tinkering on the edge are simply keeping seats warm because very sadly for every person who falls out of love with these big clubs there is another ready to take their seat and until that situation changes no amount of new AFC clubs will change that.

Thats the Premier league for you though!

I think the point of creating a team as opposed to adopting one is you are far more likely to have an emotional attachment to a team that you have helped create. I expect the fans are not thinking that far ahead. I am sure the conference seems like a lifetime away when they are playing county league football. Who knows how they would react?

I certainly wouldn't want to support Farsley Celtic or Garforth or anyone around here, if Bradford were to disappear. I would want an AFC Bradford.

This guy has come out with some silly comments in his time but this time he has got it spot on for me - http://blogs.notw.co.uk/sport/2008/07/simon-jordan-bl.html

Simon Jordan is correct in what he said football at the top end has too come to its senses or it will implode. He is correct NO sportsman is worth £150,000/week when will the people see the king has no clothes !.

It will be interesting to gauge their popularity among other clubs around their level.
FC United didn't experience the resentment that some people expected because their fans & officials were fantastic. Went to Gigg Lane with Silsden a couple of seasons ago and was gobsmacked - a programme that had a 2 page feature on their opponents, a really good write up about the following week's opponents in the Vase (Brodsworth) & not a single condescending comment about either opponents - even though it was obvious that the club were going to progress much further (at least in the short term) than both Silsden or Brodsworth.

Even at the 2 Silsden home games, their fans were spot on - and there were a lot of them !! (The only idiots in the ground had come from East Pudsey & once they had paid their admission were duly ejected).

Looking at AFC Liverpool's various forums, its looking like their fans are going to be of a similar ilk, so I look forward to seeing them in the near future - although I agree that there may be fewer of them.
