I know that there are at least 3 letters in the last 3 weeks that have not arrived, god knows what else I should have had that hasn't arrived along with more items that just happen to have the same number in their address

Ste do you know if the letters were sent via RM or via another postal service who only use RM as the actual deliverers?
If the latter it is just possible that they lost the letters before they got to RM (not that I'm suggesting RM never lose letters and agree that it's just not acceptable that they do if at all they do).
It does seem from your post that you have regular problems with your deliveries, have you contacted RM to see if there are any problems with your round?

I find the Royal Mail to be quite good, far from appalling, I agree with Slater in that I can't honestly think of any problems I've had with them.

You can't complain for 25 days, I need proof of posting so the claim needs to come from the person posting the letter and I can't claim compensation or consequential compensation unless the item was sent by special delivery
I can clearly prove though that the Royal Mail service is crap by the letters I get wrongly delivered to me yet they require the sort of evidence that'd be required for prosecution in a court of law to admit they got it wrong and they yet again cocked up
I admire your loyalty to Royal Mail Slater and Stan but they truly are woeful from my own experience and getting worse and worse
